Scope users have not been lacking choice when it comes to mid/side processing in general and in particular mastering equalizers.  Brainworx BX Digital for example was certainly a comprehensive tool but with a price tag to match and in some cases overkill in terms of what a producer might need.  dNa have come up with this solution that's lighter on the pocket and presents an easier option for those wanting a simpler solution that's just as capable of polishing a mix and giving it some analog character at the same time.

This device delights the fans with its glowing valve graphics and analog style and can work in both normal stereo as well as mid/side mode.

A Type II switch is provided and upon investigation I found this to be based on a shape called a 'resonant shelf', first proposed by psycho-acoustician Michael Gerzon and used in Manley's Massive Passive, Waves Renaissance EQ and the Weiss EQ-1.

It could be thought of as a combination of a shelving boost and a parametric dip (or vice versa).  Such a curve, with a bass shelf of 11db below 178Hz is mollified by a gentle parametric dip above 178Hz; this resonant shelf is controlled by a single band of the equalizer.  This type of curve can help keep a vocal from sounding thick while implementing a bass boost.

Hence Ray's comment of 'Use less, get more'.

Shogun Spy: I mastered this track with Scope and used Fat inserts and the new dNa StereoEqualiser and dNa MasterCOMP.

SoundDesigner: Can't wait to see what the updates are that will come to MasterCOMP and the Stereo Equaliser as I love them both and they are no doubt my favorites in their categories.  I compared them to some of the best plug-ins out there and all the extreme oversampling, complex tweaking, etc. in this world don't help those others to sound better than yours. I see I might as well just give you my Debit Card number and you just charge it every time you release a new plug-in.  Your work is top-notch, looking forward to the next releases.  Can't wait!
